Summary
The forecast for rain and storms hung over this event for days in advance and seemed to only become more certain as the hours neared. The course designer, thinking safety, truncated his courses as not to have them cross Boston Run creek. This resulted in some of the shortest courses that we have seen. For instance, the Red course measured only 3.5k. However, the degree of difficulty more than compensated for the short distance, as the courses resulted in multiple MPs/DNFs and a hotly debated control (#46, #10 on Red) as to whether it was correctly placed.

This humble control-collector found it just where I anticipated it to be.
As for the rain, it never materialized! But a crack team of Carrie King (first time registrar) and Phillip Wadsworth and Cindy Turik staffing the starter/finisher table and parking attendant extraordinaire, Bob Boltz, had it ALL under control, ready for gale force winds and torrential rain. (Well… maybe I’m stretching that part) But this was a wonderfully competent group of generous volunteer members, who saw to it everyone else had fun before they indulged themselves.
