With rain in the forecast, but no clouds in sight in the early morning, we prepared fun, but challenging courses on the Kenston Campus and surrounding woods.
All courses included a mix of both traditional “in the woods” orienteering, with sprint elements on the open campus.

Perfect weather was the backdrop at a beautiful location for our Mother’s Day Classic-O event at Sippo Lake Park in Stark County. A number of Moms came out to enjoy the day. Sanae Rogers and her husband, Chris, celebrated by both volunteering and navigating. Sanae did all this after she spent the previous day and evening on an intercontinental flight. Great job! Join us for the third time at the beautiful Kenston Campus to run (or walk) classic+sprint courses. The Kenston Campus features a gently sloping terrain, and a nice mix of woods, open campus, grass covered areas, landscaped features, and a full array of buildings, a sports stadium, baseball fields, and more. Five club members from NEOOC travelled to Indianapolis and surrounding areas to represent at the Flying Pig XXI, hosted by OCIN (Orienteering Cincinnati) on the weekend of April 7-9, 2017. Bob Boltz, Fred Mailey, KJ Rufener, Todd Pownell, and Andreas Johansson ran various distances and events throughout the weekend, and took home a few medals. Join Stark Parks and the Northeastern Ohio Orienteering Club this Mother’s Day to explore Sippo Lake Park through the sport of Orienteering.
Orienteering can be a unique family adventure to explore park locations. Courses are designed for beginner, intermediate, and advanced orienteers using a map to locate flagged locations throughout the park, like a scavenger hunt.
Use of your own compass is encouraged, however limited loaner compasses are available at registration. For safety reasons, all participants must have a whistle.
