Events NEOOC Orienteering Score

Pumpkin-O | Fry Family Park – Stark County | Saturday October 20 | Starts 11am-12:30 – Courses Close 3pm

Please join us for a fun morning and afternoon of Orienteering.  This is our first event at this park with a brand new map created by Bob Boltz.

Registrations and Starts 11am to 12:30.  Courses close at 3pm.

This will be a score event where controls are worth 10, 20 or 30 points each. Find all 26 controls to earn 500 points! If you go beyond the 90 minute time limit, your points will disappear at an alarming rate! Beginners can easily navigate to the controls along trails and in open areas. More experienced orienteers will enjoy some challenging checkpoints in the wonderfully open woods surrounding the large pond and up the forest streams. You will want to make the short trip just south of Canton to be one of the first to enjoy this new map and venue while enjoying the Fall colors. Click the link below for directions to Fry Family Park.

Hi Chris; This is a drop in event. Just show up from 11am to 12:30pm and we will get you registered and started. See you there! Fred

How much does the Pumpkin-O cost? Per person or per map? If we borrow a compass, will we have to leave anything with registration? What if it’s pouring rain?

Hi Patricia; We spoke on the phone about your questions. But, I will repeat the answers here for general viewing. We charge per Start. A Start is an individual or group doing the course together. They start at the same time and end at the same time. A Start is $5 for a individual or group with a membership or $10 for a non-member individual or group. One map is provided per Start. Additional maps can be purchased at $3 each. A compass may be borrowed and it is customary to leave some collateral behind to ensure the compass is returned, such as your car keys. If there is a modest rain then the event proceeds as normal, but in the case of severe weather predictions or on-site severe conditions the event will be cancelled. Check to O-line telephone and the event webpage for updates. Fred
