2020 NEOOC Club Championship – FAQs
1. What is the 2020 NEOOC Season Championship? It is a a pilot program offering to track members’ results over the entire season. This will allow you to see how you do compared to other members of the same gender and similar level of skill (see rules that will explain). So it is really a performance tracking guide and less of an actual championship. There will be no three-step podium or handing out of medals at the end. [Though…maybe we will do a little something 🙂 ]
Mostly we hope this will be an additional enhancement to your fun and engagement with orienteering.
2. How do I enter, and how much will it cost? As an NEOOC member (as in dues paying member), you will automatically be entered when you participate in one of our regularly scheduled events – but see rules for specifics. Cost: FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE.
3. What if I don’t want to participate in the Season Championship? Participation is entirely voluntary. If you would prefer not to have your event results tracked through the season, simply send an email to contact@NEOOC.com and we will see to it that your results are not tracked.
4. What if I can’t make it to an event or I have a couple of disastrous “I’m so FREAKIN’ LOST!” days in the woods – i.e., a couple of poor results? No need to worry! The season championship will be determined based on a participant’s top 6 finishes during the 2020 season. Saying it another way, since NEOOC is planning 11 competitive events in 2020, each participant gets to throw away their worst 5 finishes.
5. How will I know where I stand in the Season Championship rankings?Plans are to post the top three places in each gender-skill class at each event through the season. Also, there will be a link to the 2020 NEOOC Season Championship Standings on the NEOOC website, under the Results drop-down (also below).
