NEW YEAR CLASSIC-O

(Out with the Old, and In with the O!)

Overview

Continue your great start to 2023 by joining us for a classic-O at Camp Butler!  Will there be Snow (remember the 2021 event there!!!)???  Who knows, but there will be a lot of fun, so come on out regardless!

This year a classic orienteering event, with 5 courses covering the Beginner through Advanced skill levels, is being planned and will kick off with late morning starts.

  • Date: Saturday, January 7th
  • Times…
    • NEOOC Monthly Meeting at 9:00am
    • Check-in beginning at 10:30am
    • Staggered starts beginning at 11:00am
    • Last start at 12:00 Noon
    • Courses close at 2:30pm
  • Location: Camp Butler, Cuyahoga Valley National Park
    • Parking at Baden-Powell and check-in at the Conference Center (follow signage)
  • Cost: $10 with preregistration for NEOOC members, $15 for non-members.  Walk-up cost is $20 for anyone

Courses

Five courses will be available:

  • White – Beginner
  • Yellow – Beginner with some Experience
  • Orange – Intermediate
  • Green – Short Advanced
  • Red – Long Advanced

For the Season Championship, results achieved in this event will be mapped into the Season Championship skill categories (Male and Female) as follows:

  • White and Yellow results will go to the Beginner skill categories
  • Orange results will go to the Intermediate skill categories
  • Green and Red results will go to the Advanced skill categories

Preregistration and Cost

  • Preregistrations, closing 9:00pm, January 5, 2023
    • $10 per Start* for Members of NEOOC or O-USA affiliated clubs
    • $15 per Start* for non-Members
  • Walk-up Starts accepted on Saturday, January 7th 11:30am to 12:30pm, subject to map availability
    • $20 per Start* (Member or non-Member)

* A Start is an individual or group navigating the course together.  One map is included per paid start.  Additional maps, up to two, are $3 each.

After submitting your information on the registration form, you will be directed to the PayPal website.  Use the PayPal pull down to select the
number of maps.
