In partnership with Geauga County Parks, we are excited to bring orienteering to The West Woods, a 902 acre park.
Over 150 hours have been spent mapping this fabulous venue, which features challenging terrain and hidden features. An East Side gem – not to miss!
This will be a classic orienteering event, with 5 courses covering the Beginner through Advanced skill levels.

Date: Saturday, February 10th- Times…
- Check-in beginning at 10:30am
- Staggered starts beginning at 11:00am
- Courses close at 2:00pm
- Location: , The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road (Rte 87), Novelty, OH 44072 – follow signage to check-in)
- Cost: $10 with preregistration for NEOOC members, $15 for non-members. Walk-up cost is $20 for anyone

Courses
Five courses will be available:
White – Beginner (2.5 km long x 65 m climb x 11 controls)- Yellow – Beginner with some Experience (2.8 km long x 70 m climb x 15 controls)
- Orange – Intermediate (4.6 km long x 115 m climb x 115 m climb x 14 controls)
- Green – Short Advanced (5.9 km long x 120 m climb x 13 controls)
- Red – Long Advanced (6.8 km long x 145 m climb x 15 controls)
Start Procedure
- You will need to Clear and Check your Si card at the registration desk at check-in. A volunteer will help for anyone that needs an assist.
- White, Yellow, and Orange participants will receive their maps during the registration process and may ask volunteers for help to ensure a successful outing. Advanced course participants will receive their map at the start and will hold it face down until after punching the Start control!
Preregistration and Cost
- Preregistrations, closing 9:00pm Thursday, February 8, 2024
- $10 per Start* for Members of NEOOC or O-USA affiliated clubs
- $15 per Start* for non-Members
- Walk-up Starts* accepted on Saturday, February 10th 10:30am to 11:00am, first come, first served subject to map availability
- $20 per Start* (Member or non-Member)
* A Start is an individual or group (max 6) navigating the course together. One map is included per paid start. Additional maps, up to two, are $3 each.
After submitting your information on the registration form, you will be directed to the PayPal website. A small offset is added to cover PayPal fees.
