The Camp Butler “Snow”-O was a great success this year! A couple years ago, we had to change the date of this event two times, as it was just too cold to safely conduct it. We had no such problem this year. Temperatures neared 40 degrees, and Mother Nature afforded us the challenge of plenty of mud in place of snow. 90+ people came out to enjoy the fine weather, have some fun in the woods, and enjoy some chili and hot chocolate afterwards. As the event coincided with National Ice Cream For Breakfast Day, we also had some frozen treats, even if it was well past breakfast time.

Andreas Johansson designed and set five great courses, which were condensed to the Camp Butler area. Guy Russ and Elaine Jones took care of event registration and membership sign-up. Sanae Rogers made sure everyone got off to a good start, and Fred Mailey, Dave Kostansek, and Jay Smink all chipped in to collect controls at the end of the event. A special thanks to Jay, collector extraordinaire, for going out three separate times to collect controls!

And of course, as Fred and I were wrapping up the day and pulling out of Camp Butler, it started to snow. Go figure!
