Classic Orienteering in the CVNP
Overview
Please join us in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park for an exciting afternoon of Orienteering at Oak Hill Trailhead. As suggested by the image above, this is an officially-registered event in World Orienteering Day 2023. Come out and help us celebrate the sport that we all love!
This will be a Classic Orienteering event where controls must be visited in a set order. Beginners’ courses and some instruction will be available for those who want to give this sport a try. More experienced orienteers will enjoy some challenging checkpoints on the intermediate and advanced courses in the mix of open woods and more challenging areas. Creeks, ravines, small lakes and ponds abound. Click the link below for directions to the Oak Hill Trailhead.

- Date & Time: Saturday, May 20th. Check-in beginning at 11:30am with staggered starts from 12:00 – 1:00pm
- Courses close at 3:00pm
- Cost: $10 with preregistration for NEOOC members, $15 for non-members. Walk-up cost is $20 for anyone

Courses
Five courses will be available:
- White – Beginner – 2.5km long / 35m climb
- Yellow – Beginner with some Experience – 3.1km long / 55m climb
- Orange – Intermediate – 4.3km long / 120m climb
- Green – Short Advanced – 4.8km long
- Red – Long Advanced – 6.5km long
Preregistration and Cost
- Preregistrations, closing 9:00pm, May 18 2023
- $10 per Start* for Members of NEOOC or O-USA affiliated clubs
- $15 per Start* for non-Members
- Walk-up Starts on Saturday, May 20 11:30am to 12:30pm
- $20 per Start* (Member or non-Member)
* A Start is an individual or group navigating the course together. One map is included per paid start. Additional maps, up to two, are $3 each.
