Overview

Continue your great start to 2026 by joining us for a classic-O at Camp Butler!  This will be a classic orienteering event, with 5 courses covering the Beginner through Advanced skill levels

Details

• Date: Saturday, January 17th, 2026
• Times…
  • Check-in beginning at 8:30am
  • Starts from 09:00am thru 10:00am
  • Courses close at 11:00 am
• Location: Conference Center, Camp Butler, Cuyahoga Valley National Park
  • Parking at Baden-Powell and check-in at the Conference Center (follow signage)
• Cost: $10 with preregistration for NEOOC members, $15 for non-members.  Walk-up cost is $20 for anyone
• This event can be done solo or as a group of up to 6 people.
• Depending on availability, compasses and electronic timing devices can be borrowed from the club at no cost during the event.
• There will be no water stops on the course, so runners should bring their own water supplies
• SportIdent ePunch equipment and FULL SIZE control flags will be in use
• Controls will be in beacon mode for G/R!  SIAir Cards can be used on G/R.  A limited number of SIAir Cards will be available to borrow.  Reminder:  All SiAir Cards need to be cleared and must be physically inserted into start box.
• Livelox will be active for this event.  Sign in to the Livelox app on your smartphone to record your route directly to Livelox, or record it on your Garmin or other GPS tracker, and upload it to Livelox later.
• Preregister today to ensure a map!

Courses and Map

Maps will be 1:6000, 5m contours.

Five courses will be available (approximate distances) :

• Yellow – Beginner, 2 km
• Orange – Intermediate, 4.5 km
• Brown – Short Advanced, 4.5 km
• Green – Intermediated Advanced, 5.5 km
• Red – Long Advanced. 6.5 km

PROCEDURE

• You will need to Clear and Check your Si card at the registration desk at check-in. A volunteer will help for anyone that needs an assist.
• Yellow, and Orange participants will receive their maps during the registration process and may ask volunteers for help to ensure a successful outing.
• Advanced course participants will receive their map at the start and will hold it face down until after punching the start control!
• All participants must check in with registration before leaving event.  Do not leave event without downloading and checking back in with event managers.

Preregistration and Costs

• Preregistration, closing 9:00pm, January 15, 2026
  • $10 per Start* for Members of NEOOC or O-USA affiliated clubs or First Responders
  • $15 per Start* for non-Members
  • After submitting your information on the registration form, you will be directed to the PayPal website.  A small offset is added to cover PayPal fees.
• Walk-up Starts, accepted on Saturday, January 17th 8:30am to 10:00am, subject to map availability – $20 per Start* (Member or non-Member)
