Make plans to join your fellow orienteers for a hauntingly fun run in the dark, but friendly, confines of Richfield Heritage Preserve, as only President Howard Montgomery and his NEOOC team can provide!  Three courses to satisfy all skill levels – and, did I forget to mention, NO MOON, and…

Details

  • Event format will be classic, cross country – controls must be visited in sequential order as specified on the map for the course that you have chosen to run.
  • Place:  Richfield Heritage Preserve, Richfield, OH
  • Dates and Times:  Saturday, October 30, 2021 – Check-in will be at the Waterfront Shelter, just SW of the main Lodge starting at 6:00pm, with staggered starts beginning at 6:30pm.
    • No starts after 7:00pm!
    • Courses close at 9:00pm!
    • There is an automatic gate that will be closed to prevent entry at some point by Park personnel, but it will allow people to leave with no problem whenever they are ready to go.
  • Three courses:  Novice, Intermediate and Wacko!  For the Season Championship, points will map as follows:

Novice course will go to Beginner

Intermediate course will go to Intermediate

Wacko course will go to Advanced

  • SportIdent ePunch equipment and FULL SIZE control flags will be in use
  • Livelox will be active for this event.  Sign in to the Livelox app on your smartphone to record your route directly to Livelox, or record it on your Garmin or other GPS tracker, and upload it to Livelox later.

Registration and Cost

One Start is $11 if you preregister, and includes one map.  Additional maps, up to two, are $3 each. This is our normal member event fee ($10), with a small offset added to compensate for PayPal fees.  To simplify payments, the same fee is being charged to members and non-members.  A Start is an individual or group navigating the course together.

After submitting your information on the registration form, you will be directed to the PayPal website.  Use the PayPal pull down to select the number of maps.

We will also be accepting walk up registrations on the day of the event, subject to map availability.  Cost for walk up registration will be $20 (cash or check made out to NEOOC) per Start.
