Recap
This is our very first public event at Firelands Scout Reservation and we are excited to start building strong relationships with Lake Erie Council, BSA. The reservation is located at Wakeman, OH, about 40 minutes west from Cleveland. This is the good news for Cleveland West-siders and it gives us more diversified venues.
The new map was created and the course was designed by NEOOC dynamic duo, Bob Boltz and Fred Mailey. Thanks to them for setting the controls up in the scattered rain, Friday. When they finished, they were soaking wet.
The forecast was calling a chance of rain in the morning, but it turned out hot, but a great day for summer orienteering. The numbers of participating teams was 18, less than typical in-person events. But we saw some new runners who tried Fry Family Park and/or Camp Tuscazoar, and came back and enjoyed this venue. Also, the finishers were treated with the tasty donuts from Jack Frost, a well known doughnut shop in Cleveland, OH.
