Recap
Our second event at Kent State is in the books. We had 58 people out enjoying the crisp and sunny spring weather. Registration and results were provided in downtown Kent with the start and finish a few blocks away at the Kent State campus gateway. Post event Bellacino’s Pizza, snacks, and maybe a beer or two were enjoyed by all.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the five different courses designed by Jay Smink. Todd Pownell also helped with designing the red course, which ended up being the most popular of the courses. Jonathan Boyer cleared the course in 53 minutes with Team Cattywampus close behind in just over 54 minutes. Well done!
Great job by Dan Vaughn in bringing out three students from his Walsh Jesuit High School class to compete in their first orienteering event! And to another outstanding educator, Bob Boltz, thank you for the post-event geology lesson given to my son, Andrew!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out to support our event, and a special thanks to all of the volunteers and to our great partners, Chris and Owen, from the Kent State Adventure Center for making it all happen!
