Considering the bitter cold of previous days, mid-thirties, sunshine, snow (and plenty of ice) felt absolutely perfect for the Snow-O at Camp Manatoc on Saturday! 50 adventurous participants came out to navigate the snow and ice and enjoy the beauty of the scout camp.
The Trading Post cabin made for a very comfortable event headquarters with plenty of volunteers to help make the event a success. The efforts of Andreas Johansson (course designer and course setter), Guy Russ (course setter and registrar), Bob Turanchik (event director), Sanae Rogers & Steve Hendrix (starters), Chris and John Naizer (greeters / crowd control / photographer), and Howard Montgomery (control collector) were all greatly appreciated. Along with their efforts, good food, a big fire, and lots of laughter added to the ambiance.
Emily Kullman completed the white course in the fastest time. She also completed the yellow and orange courses. Very impressive!
Lee Hutton also completed both the yellow and the green courses. Well done!
Serena Naizer and Lance Neffenger came in first on the yellow course. They also earned their scouting ranger awards by completing an orienteering course with Andreas and demonstrating two different methods to start a fire. Awesome!
Shelby Jones (orange course), Fred Mailey (green course), and Randy Mitchell (red course) were the fastest to complete their respective courses. Great job, everyone!
